The short version
I spent roughly twenty years in data architecture and business intelligence — the last stretch at VP level at State Street. The job was, at heart, one repeated task: take something messy and human, find the structure underneath it, and build a system that makes the structure useful.
Princess Light Media is the same job with a different output. Instead of a reporting layer, the deliverable is a video that makes someone stop scrolling. The underlying discipline hasn't changed at all.
Why that background matters for video
Most video production is bespoke. Every project starts from zero, every asset is made separately, and the cost is a function of how many days a crew stands in a room. That model produces good work and terrible economics for small brands.
The studio runs on a different model: define the visual world once, then produce every asset in the campaign out of it in a single pass. That is a systems answer to a creative problem, and it is the reason a release pack can contain eleven finished assets instead of one.
What the studio is honest about
The work is AI-native. Production is built on generative video and motion tools, directed, art-directed and finished by a person. That is not hidden from clients, and it is not an apology — it is the specific reason a small brand can afford cinematic-quality video at all.
Some of the work published here is spec: produced independently to demonstrate an approach, not commissioned by the brand shown. Every spec piece is labelled as such on the work page. No invented client list, no borrowed logos.
The two halves of the business
Motion design serves product brands — DTC, ecommerce, craft beverage, beauty, spirits, Kickstarter, and independent musicians — anywhere in the world.
Admin-Busters serves local service businesses across Surrey, Langley, Delta, Burnaby, Richmond and Vancouver: booking systems, follow-up, reviews, Google Business Profile and content, set up and run so the owner doesn't have to.
They look like two businesses. They're the same one. Both are about taking a repetitive, structured problem off a busy person's plate and building something that runs without them.
Working with me
You deal with me directly. There is no account manager, no junior doing the actual work, and no deck of process before anything gets made. Send a paragraph about what you're launching and you'll get a real reply, usually the same day.
Want to talk it through?
Fifteen minutes on the phone, or a paragraph by email. Either works.
